SoD – SHADOW’S LOSS

I got inspired for that page after playing the game SA2 again after some longer time. And nevertheless I still love and enjoy the story of Shadow and the tragic events in his past. The game “Shadow the hedgehog” already revealed some more details about Maria’s death and Shadow also was able to remember more about his past – also about his anger and his thought of revenge. But what Maria really meant to him? What had he thought at the moment of her death, what were his feelings after he heard Maria’s last words, saw her falling on the ground with himself being behind the glass and not able to help her? How he felt when he was shot down to earth?
These were the questions I have had in mind for quite some time now and I wanted to draw some part of Shadow’s past that never was mentioned or paid any attention to, namely the part when he was shot down to earth and mainly his feelings when that happened.


Shadow the hedgehog realizes that Maria is hurt and that he probably won’t be able to help her and – what shocks him even more – that he has lost her forever. He will never be able to see her again, talk to her again, learn from her again or just be with her. She is dead and there is no way for him to reach her. It is as if a whole universe has come between them , as if her beautiful and pure innocent soul has left towards the beauty of the stars and into the darkness of the universe. Desperation takes hold of him and in the instant of a second Shadow realizes: He cannot die, so he cannot follow her. Bound to the promise he had given and to the gift of Eternal Life he isn’t possible to follow her to the other end of the universe.
